Hats!

I posted on Tuesday that I started making a hat with my loom that I got for Christmas! I have offically finished two hats and have started on my third. Its pretty simple and have been working on them while I'm at work! I know I complain about work and how I so desperately want to stay at home, but I do have the best job in the world. I'm helping people and when were not busy I can work on my crafty projects. The hats are not perfect by any means, but I'm satisfied with the green one more than the multi-colored. I made the brim too big on the multi-colored hat, but I'm hoping it will still fit Chunky Monkey's head! I'm thinking that I want to make a two colored hat using two different colors of yarn. Might be too much for me as a beginner, but I think I'll attempt it. I also have great visions of making scarfs! I've seen the looms at Walmart and think Ansley needs matching hats and scarfs for next winter. :)

I've always wanted to learn how to knit and/or crochet, but have never taken the time to actually set down and give it a try. I'm left handed and everyone else in my family is right handed, so thats part of my problem. I use to get so frustrated because I couldn't ever peel potatoes with a knife because no one could teach me without cutting my hand off. Now i've just come to accept that a carrott peeler is the best thing for slicing potatoes. so if anyone out there is a left handed and is willing to teach me give me a call! ;)

Here are pics! Don't be too judgemental these are my first attempts!

As you can tell the green one is way too small! lol! Maybe baby Jaycie can wear it! :)

I'm not really liking the brim on the multi-colored hat

Ten on Tuesday!

Here is my attempt at ten on Tuesday!

  1. Ansley is getting baptized on Sunday! Grandma Carolyn made her cristening gown and it is beautiful! She's getting baptized at the same church we got married at. We have lots of family and friends that are planning to attend and I'm thinking mexican food to celebrate afterwards!
  2. Loving my new bathroom makeover! My husband did a great job of putting everything in its place! He found it at walmart and I love the colors!
  3. As I look around my house, we are surrounded by baby toys! Its driving me crazy and our house isn't big enough for all this! baby swing, bouncer, jumperoo, play mat, toys and more toys everywhere!
  4. Congrats to Brad and Whitney on their Valentine's day engagement! We are so happy for you two and can't wait for the upcoming wedding in August!
  5. Ansley's current change in sleeping habits is about to kill me! We have been up every two hours for the past 2 nights! If this isn't a growth spurt I'm in big trouble!
  6. I received a hat loom from Zach's parents on Christmas and attempted to make a hat over the holiday season, but it didn't turn out quite right! I started another one on Sunday and I believe this one is going to be a success. I also bought some green yarn at walmart to make Ansley a St. Patricks day hat! Its also Zach's birthday! The big 25 this year! Can you say good-bye mid 20's.
  7. Ready for spring! This cold and snow that we have been getting is a little toomuch for me and can't wait to play outside this spring and take Ansley on walks!
  8. We have a spring project that we are going to start as soon as it starts warming up. We are going to build a DECK! I'm super excited and I think we will be outside a lot this summer enjoying our fun in the sun and BBQ's!
  9. Thanks to Laura I have updated my blog and have gotten some great idea's from her post on Scrapbook Funattic! I'm going to give the NO flash a try this week! Go check out her post and I'm sure you will learn a lot!
  10. Check out Brandy's blog if you haven't already! She is being very crafty and I'm loving all the things she has made for Ansley! Thanks B

3 months!

I know I say this every month, but I can't believe she is 3 months already! She is such a good baby and we are enjoying every minute with her. Since i'm back to work, I really cherish our time together. I think she is going threw another growth spurt because last night was not a good night and has been wanting to eat all the time! Here's what she has been up to in the last 4 weeks!
  •  Normally sleeps from 9-2. I've been really lazy since going back to work and she has been sleeping on me a lot more than I should be letting her!
  • Able to hold a rattle in her hand and put it in her mouth
  • loves her boppy, bumbo and jumperoo! (isn't quite big enough for the jumperoo just yet)
  • started laughing! :) make me smile watching her!
  • talks and smiles all the time and loves playing on the floor and reading books with mommy
  • taking naps in her crib when I'm home (moving her to her bed very soon)
  • getting better about tummy time, but still isn't liking it. (its probably our fault and need to put her on her belly more often)
  • Still eating about 3-4oz, but think at some feedings we will increase to 5oz
  • isn't taking her binkey as much as I wish she would *i'd prefer if she would take it better at night*
  • has had 2 colds this month and currently has one :(
  • wears size 1 diapers and 0-3month clothes
  • loves her minky/taggie blankets my mom made for her *goes to sleep holding it, sooo cute*
  • we normally read 2-3 book a day
  • does really good at standing with help
  • still puking quite a bit
  • went to the babysitter for the first time
  • mommy went back to work *so sad*
  • does really good at holding her head up
  • weighs 13lbs 10oz and is 24inches long *took her to the dr this week for a cold*
I believe that sums up month 3!

Cookies for daddy

Last Friday Ansley and I decided to make daddy's favorite cookies for Valentines day! He loves homemade chocolate chip cookies! I got this recipe a couple of years ago from my brother-in-law that use to work at a local coffee shop in town and they are delicious! Ansley set in her bumbo while mommy baked! I can't wait until she is old enough to help in the kitchen. I love to cook/bake and I hope that she will too! The recipe is super easy and I'm pretty sure I have it memorized by now! :) Thats how much I make these delicious little cookies!
Chocolate chip cookies:
3/4c sugar
3/4c brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1c buttered flavor shortening *i buy it already in the package it comes in a set of three*
2 eggs
2 1/4c flour
1tsp baking soda
1tsp salt
1 bag chocolate chips

add the sugars, vanilla and shortening together. add the eggs one at a time. add the rest of ingredients. drop by spoon fulls onto cookie sheet. (i use my pampered chef stoneware and cookie scoop) bake at 375 for 10-11min.

Happy baking!

germs, germs and more germs!!

Its not going to be a very good couple of days off I'm afraid! :( Zach said that he woke up at 4am this morning freezing! He has had a cold for a few days now and seems to be getting worse and of course he had a temp of 101 before he left for work! I know its probably not smart that he went to work, but just starting a new job isn't the best time to be calling in! And little miss Ansley has been sneezing and having a runny nose since Sunday! She has started developing a cough as well and her temp this morning was 100.2 rectally! ugh not good! She is acting great and seems to be sleeping good at night! So I loaded her with Tylenol and hope her temp is down soon, if not doctor's office here we come! Zach loaded up on Dayquil and cough drops before he left this morning. I woke up yesterday with a sore throat, but I think I'm the only half way healthy one in the house! Looks like soup for us for the next couple of days and hopefully Zach will be better in a couple of days since i work all weekend!!

I better get to my morning chores before the day gets any worse and its only 8:30!

Here's Ansley last week! She just figured out how to hold a rattle and put it in her mouth! (excuse my house slipper lol) This was the day that she spent the day with Craig and he took her to her first Valentine party! Of course she was dressed appropriately!

Valentine's Weekend!!!

We had a great Valentine's day! It was a busy day and a busy weekend. It seems like we never have a weekend to do nothing and I am looking forward to my next weekend off and hopefully do nothing! Zach and I exchanged gifts the night before and little Miss Ansley opened her gifts on Valentine's day. I'm super excited about my gift! Zach got me a new bathroom set! New shower curtain, rug, hand towels, tooth brush holder, soap dispenser and a curved shower curtain rod! I love the new curved rod and it really does give you a ton of extra space! Ansley and I got Zach a new wallet and I played a game most of the week, of 10 reason's why I loved him! :) Ansley recieved the red heart leggings that she requested, a bib and a onesie. Her grandparents also spoiled her! She got clothes and a book.

Ansley had her pictures taken on Saturday and they went pretty well! She wasn't full of smiles like we had hoped, but we still got some good pictures, and as of this afternoon her pics are up! Click here to visit the website. Go to proofs and the password is aj2010!

Valentine's day..... Whats that?

My mommy has been talking an awful lot about Valentine's day. I'm not sure what its all about, but she keeps dressing me in hearts, pinks and red and these crazy hats! My mommy keeps giving me lots of kisses and telling me Valentine's day is a few short days away. Mommy and daddy have presents for me and I've put these on the top of my list! I'm getting my pictures taken on Saturday and I can't wait to wear my cute hats that Terese made for me, these beautiful bloomers that my grandma put my name on and those leggings that I've requested! Mommy keeps asking me if I have any ideas for daddy and I think I've finally figured out what I'm getting him! :) We have tried on the two hats that I'm going to be wearing over and over and I absolutely love them! I'm also going to make cupcakes this weekend to take to Peggy's house for all the other kids to eat, just wish I was old enough to try them. Oh, well give me a year and I'll be eating tons of sweets that my grandparents give to me! haha my mommy will love that..... Can't wait for Sunday after all that's why I'm here! My mommy and daddy *love* each other very much and me even more! { FYI February was the month I was conceived} My aunt B made me some cute hair clips that I've been wearing all month and I must say that I look pretty darn fashionable in them. Anyway, back to eating, peeing, pooping and sleeping! Keep watching my mommy will post pics of my Valentine's day goodies!

see what i'm talking about hearts every where!!

lovin' my new hats! Thanks Terese

Thanks aunt B loves these too! :)

*hugs & kisses* Ansley Jane

JayCiE LyNn

Has arrived! What a beautiful and healthy baby girl! She belongs to our great friends Jamie and Luke! She was born yesterday February 8th at 4:10pm and weighed 7lbs 5oz and was 19 3/4 inches long! She is adorable and has so much hair! :) Mom and baby are doing great! We were suppose to go get pedicures yesterday afternoon, but someone had other plans for us! :) Jamie's actual due date wasn't until the 22nd but was scheduled to be induced on the 15th, but little baby Jaycie couldn't wait any longer and her mom couldn't either! Big brother Landen isn't quite sure what to think just yet, but he sure was worried last night when she was crying during bath time.

Adjusting

Well, we it has been a busy week for all of us! I finished my first week back to work, Zach is enjoying his new job and Ansley went to the babysitter for the first time on Friday! A lot has changed in the last few months! Our precious little one is now 12 weeks old and her 3 month photo shoot is fast approaching! *Excited* We are also going to do some family pics too.

Work is work! Its been pretty busy, but I am still able to get 3 or 4 pumps in a day. I can't say that I'm use to getting up at 4am yet, but I'm trying. Ansley is still waking up a couple of times at night, so that makes it even harder to get up. I miss her and I hate leaving her, but she seems to be adjusting well. I'm not crying when I leave in them morning so I guess I'm adjusting too.

Ansley had a good first day at the babysitter. She arrived around 11am on Friday and left a little after 4:30. (Zach's mom is picking her up for us and dropping her off on some days as well). Peggy said her first day went good, but didn't poop! I didn't really think much about it until yesterday when she still hadn't pooped and Zach said she was acting like her tummy hurts. Turns out she was indeed constipated and when I got home last night I started looking on-line for home remedy's. After reading several things i tried using the rectal thermometer and a little Vaseline on a q-tip. Lets just say about 5min after that she POOPED and it was defiantly 2 days worth! :) *gross* I didn't give her cereal last night, so hopefully she poops today with daddy. Peggy sent us several emails on Friday to say that Ansley was doing great! She even put a video of her on her blog and gave us a daily sheet on how well she did!! :) I really like that she kept us updated and I'm hopeful that she will do well with Peggy! :) Thanks Peggy!

Have a good week I'll post pics tomorrow of Ansley :)

surviving

Well, I've made it through one full day of work and half way through my second day. It's been hard, I cried Monday morning as I was feeding Ansley at 4:45am, but made it through the day with no tears! My mom watched her yesterday for us and she was a perfect angel for her and today Zach's parents have been watching her and my sister is helping out for a couple of hours as well. It's been hard leaving her and I miss her so much! Can't wait for tomorrow and Thursday when I can spend all day with her! :)

Zach is now employed and seems to be liking his job. He started Monday as a delivery driver for Quality Water! So if you are in need of some water let him know :) lol. As Teresa said it was a big day in the McCaslin family with both of us leaving Ansley.

Tomorrow I'm planning to visit a babysitter. I've talked to her on the phone and I'm hopeful Ansley will do well with her! :) I love the fact that she will write down when Ansley eats, sleep and the number of diaper changes! If all goes well maybe Friday will be her first day.

Zach and I had our day/night out together on Saturday. We left Ansley with my parents and headed for Wichita around 1pm. We did some shopping, ate at On the Border (had a margarita-which are the best I've ever had), checked into a hotel and went to a movie. We had a great time and really enjoyed our time as a couple. I was doing great until I talked to my mom after the movie was over. She was already asleep and had a great day with them (the evening was a different story- she was up every 3 hours!). After I got off the phone with her I started crying and cried all the way to Dairy Queen. (ice cream makes everything better). After my 30minutes of crying I was all better and enjoyed the rest of our evening. *thanks again mom and dad we had a great night*

On a random note have you been to gap recently!?! They have the cutest *pear* collection and I'm tempted to buy her everything they have! I bought this hat when we were shopping for Ansley to wear this summer! Super cute collection! Go check it out! :)

Happy Tuesday
